OK, I randomised the topics and have thrown out the following list of assignments! You have until the 10th of October to complete your RPG or RPG supplement! Try and keep entries below 2 meg in size, and when they are done email them to me at moc.liamg|hcrairtseD#moc.liamg|hcrairtseD

I have spares left over for late entrants, so post here if you want to join in after the opening date and I'll assign one to you as soon as I can. In fact, send me an email from the contact page too so that I know you've posted and can get to it straight away. Also, just in case, if you have serious moralistic issues with the subject you've been assigned (I'm mostly thinking of those pesky Nazis here) then let me know your objections and if they sound valid to me, then I'll assign you a new topic. For example, I'm quite happy to change Hisham's assignment if it turns out he's Jewish or something similar. Just don't try and convince me you're actually a werewolf or vampire or something ;)

Yep. So long as Talking Animals are a major theme, that's the only stipulation. Feel free to let that inspire you any way you like. The convention is stuff like Narnia, the SpellSinger series and a number of others, but it's up to you how you riff off that theme to bring us something new and shiny!

This has turned out ot be a really busy week, especially the first half, so I haven't done much more than thinking at this stage, but hopefully I'll have something together in time.

Hehe it may help, but don't forget that the watchworkd is originality! :) We've seen a lot of ninjas around, so you're going to have to give it quite an original twist!

Well, I must said I'm completely Uninspired. I don't know if I will be able to produce anything original and interesting with this theme…

but hey, I know, these are the rules of the game (raaaahhhh why can't I have something cool like, say, "werewolf", "nazi" or even "ninja" ???). I think that what's blocking me is the fact that "spaceship" is not a character concept (well it could be, but no, that doesn't inspire me either).

And I don't see which "moral objections" I could invoke to avoid this one. Err… I was abducted by aliens as a child and this would awaken painful and traumatic memories ?

No ?

Well, I didn't really think it would work.

Hehe bad luck ;) That's always the problem with random stuff, you never know what you're going to get. It's the only fair way of doing it sadly. I'm sure you'll come up with something (personally I think the 'spaceships as characters' idea of yours has some serious mileage in it if approached in the right manner, so don't give up just yet!)

If you are having that much dificulty with space ships, here are my ideas based on your idea of spaceships as characters.

Living Spaceships (maybe some sort of mysterious origin they don't understand themselves)
Cyborg/Implant Spaceships (people have been implanted into the spaceship so as to control it and … well, who knows! Maybe against their will… Ahhh!)
Spaceship Familiars (They bond telepathicaly with people for some reason…)

That actually reminds me of a japanese "light" novel that has the protagonist literally becoming a "spaceship" for some microscopic alien people, and can turn into something like a Masked Rider/Sentai Hero being because of it…… oops?

I will be really digging deep bring out a new concept spin on this one. I can see many things on the list I would have preferred but I am looking forward to the challenge.

Ten days is 240 hours. We can do it. Buckle down and get creating. I'll be using plenty of work time for this process.

Indeed! Incidentally I won't moan too much if you use 'Witches' as the feminine version of the term either. It's a fairly common convention.

Well, that is no fair, I just came up with a horror mechanic just a day or two ago. Of course, maybe it is fair since it has absolutely nothing to do with zombies. Nor have I ever done Horror before, as such! Looks like this might get really quirky!

Absolutely! Plus, just because it's got zombies doesn't mean it has to be horror-based. Inserting concepts into genres that they don't usually belong in is one way that people could go about renovating those ideas.

Don't forget that Zombies don't HAVE to be undead horrors. SLIDERS did an interesting story where an anti-fat drug made everybody fat-starving zombies. 28 Days later had the RAGE virus that turned everybody into a maniac until they died. There's also a parasite worm that takes over the nervous system (of slugs and bugs, aye) and turns them into zombies (to be eaten by birds… spreading the parasite). There's also the voodoo concept of being a near-dead mind-wiped slave.

Indeed. The real-world root of the Zombie myth rarely involved stinking, rotting corpses, brain eating and things like that. It was just a brain-dead guy who did what you told him who everybody thought was dead.
